HONEYMOON TOUR OF SRI LANKA
A shorter version of this Grand Tour of Sri
Lanka can be arranged
Day 01
– Arrival
On arrival at Colombo
airport you will be met by Honeymoon Abroad
representative and transferred to the
Airport Garden hotel.
Special welcome with lighting of the Oil lamp at the hotel.
Alternatively if already in Sri Lanka for your wedding you can be
collected from your beach hotel. Rest of the day free
at leisure. Watch sunsets
over a fishing village near Negombo. Special dinner
to be arranged at the hotel.
Day 02
– Katunayake - Sigiriya
After breakfast at leisure
proceed to Sigiriya.
En-route visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, where over 70 Elephants
ranging from little babies to adult are cared for. Almost all of them
have been found in the jungles wounded or separated from their herd. The
feeding and bath time in the river is a treat to watch. Continue to
Sigiriya and check into the5 star boutique Safari Hotel;
The
Elephant Corridor.
Late afternoon climb the
Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The "Lion Mountain". In 470 AD, Kasyapa, the
son of a non-royal consort of the king, took over the kingdom after
committing patricide, built his magnificent palace on top of this 360
meter high rock fearing the wrath of the crown prince Moggallana. This
architectural wonder is famous for its well preserved rock painting of
the beautiful "Cloud Damsels" seen half way up the rock and the "Lion
Stairway" that provides access to the summit. Return to hotel. Special
dinner for 2 will be arranged at a private location of your choice.
Overnight accommodation at the hotel.
Day 03
– Sigiriya
Breakfast at the hotel.
Proceed to Habarana for an
Elephant back ride for approx 1 ½ hrs through the jungle. Return to
the hotel.
Afternoon visit
Polonnaruwa - the Medieval
Kingdom from the 11th to the 13th century. Ethnic harmony prevailed
between the Sinhalese and the Tamils during this period. Buddhist and
Hindu Temples located in the same complex and many other
ruins symbolises this fact.
The Palaces, Huge granite
sculptures and the massive tanks and complex irrigation systems
built by the Great Kings conveys the extent of development that existed
in this middle history period. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight
accommodation at the Elephant Corridor.
Day 04 – Sigiriya -
Kandy
After breakfast leave for
Kandy. The hill
capital of Sri Lanka is famous for its Temple of the Tooth Relic.
En-route visit a spice
garden and Batik factory in Matale. On arrival check into the hotel.
Evening visit the
Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, which began as a pleasure garden for the
Kings of Kandy. The rich flora of the tropics is exhibited at its best
here. Return to Le Kandyan
/ Tree Of life hotel. Special candle lit dinner at a private
location will be arranged at the hotel.
Day 05
– Kandy
Breakfast at the hotel.
Visit the Udawattekele Sanctuary. This ancient reserve, now surrounded
by Kandy offers pleasant walking as well as opportunities to see birds
and other wild life.
Return to the hotel. Dinner
and overnight stay at Le Kandyan / Tree of Life hotel.
Day 06
– Kandy
- Thalawakele.
After breakfast proceed to
Thalawakele through Tea
plantation. En-route visit a Tea factory. Check into
St Andrews Bungalow (Situated
over 5000 ft above sea level, a colonial styled bungalow with 6 bed
rooms. The garden has terraced lawns and has a variety of flowers to
cherish the environment) / Devon Bungalow (A 5 bed room bungalow
nestled between the hills
in close proximity to the picturesque Devon
falls and the majestic St
Clair Falls.). These are private bungalows, and you will be looked after
by a butler and cook who will cater to your individual tastes and needs.
Rest of the day at leisure
in the bungalow. Dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 07
- Thalawakele
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day free at leisure.
Dinner and overnight
accommodation at the St Andrews / Devon Bungalow in Thalawekelle.
Day 08
– Thalawakele – Beach resort
After breakfast proceed to
back to the south coast where you may see
stilt fishermen.
Bentota/Induruwa for beach holiday. Rest of the day
at leisure. Dinner and overnight accommodation at
Saman Villas (Deluxe
rooms).
Day 09
–
Breakfast at the hotel. A
special boat ride for approx 1 ½ hrs on the Madu River to the interiors
where you will enjoy nature, wild life etc. Return to the hotel.
Evening at leisure. Special
dinner to be arranged at a private location at the Saman Villas.
Day 10
Stay at Saman Villas
on Half board basis at leisure.
Day 11
After breakfast transfer to
the airport for departure flight.
